Connect compatible AI assistants to MindNode using the Model Context Protocol, or MCP. Once connected, you can ask an AI assistant to locate content in your documents, make changes to your documents or create a brand new document directly from a conversation. In this guide, you’ll learn how to enable the MindNode MCP server, connect an AI assistant, and try your first request.
What is MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is a standard that allows AI assistants to securely connect to other apps and use the tools those apps provide. MindNode acts as an MCP server. Your AI assistant connects to MindNode as an MCP client and can then use the MindNode tools you have made available.
Enable MCP in MindNode
- Open MindNode on your Mac.
- Choose MindNode > Settings from the menu bar and select AI.
- Enable MCP Server.
- Choose the level of access you want to allow:
- Default: allows assistants to find and read MindNode content.
- also allows assistants to create and change content.
