Connect Your Ideas — MindNode 2026.5
MindNode is at the core of almost everything I do: my daily tasks, vacation planning, and, of course, the roadmap for the app itself. While MindNode has always had great ways to get information into and out of the app, it never felt fully integrated with the other tools I use.
That’s what makes me especially excited about today’s feature update. Using the open Model Context Protocol (MCP), I can now send information to MindNode from AI assistants and let them work with the contents of my documents (without having to copy and paste everything back and forth).
MindNode 2026.5 also brings more control over Document History and printing, along with several improvements for organizing and working with your documents.
Work with AI Assistants
Mind mapping can unlock your creativity and help you discover new ideas. We want to keep that human creative process front and center, while at the same time taking advantage of the new capabilities AI enables.
So instead of cluttering MindNode with yet another chat interface, we’re bringing MindNode to the AI assistants you already use.
MindNode 2026.5 introduces support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that allows AI assistants to connect to apps and use the tools and information they make available.
You decide how much access an AI assistant gets. By default, connected assistants can only read information from MindNode. To let an assistant create documents, organize your library, or update your content, you need to explicitly give it permission to make changes when setting up the connection.
Once connected, you can ask an AI assistant to work across your MindNode library. For example, you could ask it to:
- Find all the documents you recently worked on.
- Suggest a better folder structure for your MindNode library.
- Move all documents containing “Team Meeting” into a dedicated folder.
- Restyle an existing mind map with colors and emojis that fit its topic.
- Translate a group of documents into another language.
MCP is only available in MindNode for Mac and works with AI assistants that support local MCP servers, including Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT for Mac, Codex, and Mistral Vibe.

In MindNode you are always in control of whether you want to use AI features in MindNode at all. You can disable them entirely in Settings by turning off Apple Intelligence on the AI tab.
Stay in Control with Document History
Giving an AI assistant the ability to update your documents can be incredibly useful, but we also want those changes to remain transparent. Document History now clearly marks changes made using AI Brainstorming or MCP, so you can see when AI was involved as you browse earlier versions of a document.
We’ve also enhanced the Document History browser with the ability to remove older versions when you no longer need them. This can be useful if you want to remove older content for privacy reasons or simply reduce the size of a document.
Both improvements are currently available for local documents. We plan to bring them to shared documents in the future.
More Control When Printing
One of the major features still missing compared to MindNode Classic was more advanced control over printing.
MindNode 2026.5 closes much of that gap with new options to print each mind map on a separate page, choose what to include when printing a document as an outline, and adapt the theme for printing.
Even More Changes
Those are the highlights, but MindNode 2026.5 includes several other improvements across the app:
- A new Organize mode in the action toolbar on iPhone makes it easier to restructure your mind map.
- New App Intents give you more ways to use MindNode with Shortcuts.
- Choose what information MindNode includes in the notes of tasks sent to Reminders.
- On Mac, show, hide, and reorder metadata columns in the Document Browser’s list view.
- Sort documents by their creation date in the Document Browser.
