Unfold Your Ideas — MindNode for iPhone Duo
When Apple announced the iPhone Duo, we started thinking about how MindNode could make use of the foldable display. Having a compact screen for quickly capturing ideas and a much larger one for organizing them seemed like a great fit for MindNode.
With MindNode 2026.7, we're introducing support for iPhone Duo, including Side by Side mode, which lets you see your mind map and outline at the same time.
Capture Ideas on the Go
Not every idea needs a big canvas. Sometimes you just want to quickly write something down before you forget it.
With the iPhone Duo closed, you can use MindNode's Outline mode on the outer display to collect ideas, add topics, or make a few changes to an existing document. No need to unfold the device.

Unfold for the Bigger Picture
When you unfold the iPhone Duo, MindNode switches to the larger inner display, giving you much more room for your mind map.
You can zoom out to see the whole map, move topics around, or explore how different ideas connect. Things that can feel a little cramped on a regular iPhone are much easier with the additional screen space.

I particularly like how you can start with a few ideas in Outline mode on the outer screen and then unfold the device to continue organizing them as a mind map.
Mind Maps and Outlines, Side by Side
The larger display also gives us enough room to bring Side by Side to iPhone.
Instead of switching between the mind map and outline, you can now see both at the same time. They show the same document, just in different ways. You might use the mind map to get an overview of your ideas, while the outline makes it easier to focus on the details.

We've also added a setting that automatically activates Side by Side when you partially fold the iPhone Duo into a split pose, either like a book or a small laptop. It's a nice way to make use of the different positions of the device.
If you've used MindNode Classic, Side by Side might look familiar. We're happy to bring it back in the new MindNode, and we're also planning to make it available on Mac, iPad and Apple Vision Pro in the future.
More Improvements in MindNode 2026.7
Of course, this update isn't just about iPhone Duo.
We've made several changes to toolbars, inspectors, and editing controls to make MindNode more consistent across devices. On iPhone and iPad, we've also adjusted the position of controls to make them easier to reach.
There are also smaller fixes and improvements, including better handling of images, improved OPML support and making sure your latest edits, scroll position, and zoom level are consistently saved when you close or switch documents.
You can find the full list in the MindNode 2026.7 release notes.
A Note About MindNode Classic
We're also preparing a small update for MindNode Classic to add basic iPhone Duo support. This will allow Classic to make better use of the larger inner display instead of running in Apple's compatibility mode.
MindNode 2026.7 is available now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Updates for Mac and Apple Vision Pro will follow in a few days.
If you've had a chance to try MindNode on iPhone Duo, we'd love to hear what you think!
