I released MindNode 1.3.2 and MindNode Pro 1.3.1. This updates adds a Japanese localization made by Koichi Matsumoto and brings minor bug fixes.
Website
During this week I added three new things to my website:
MindNode Pro 1.3.1 and MindNode 1.3.2 Release Notes
Japanese Localization
MindNode and MindNode Pro are now fully localized in Japanese.
Improvements and Fixes:
I released MindNode Pro 1.3 and MindNode 1.3.1 today.
MindNode Pro 1.3 is a major update and free for all existing MindNode Pro users. It adds the ability to visualize cross connections and to edit the mind map in a full featured fullscreen mode. To better communicate that MindNode and MindNode Pro are based on exactly the same codebase I skipped the 1.2 version number.
MindNode 1.3.1 is a minor release bringing smaller fixes and improvements. It also adds compatibility to the updated mindnode file format and allows to view cross connections that were created with MindNode Pro 1.3 and newer.
MindNode Pro 1.3 Change Log
Cross Connections
Cross Connections allow the user to visualize a connection between any two nodes on the canvas. You can create a new connection by selecting two nodes and choosing create connection from the main menu or by shift-clicking on a node and dragging a line to a second node. MindNode Pro supports importing and exporting connections from FreeMind. All other export formats currently don’t support this new feature.
Fullscreen Mode
MindNode Pro now supports editing the mind map in a full screen mode. It can be enabled in the main menu.
Contextual Menus
Context menu allow to access to the most important functionally directly on the canvas.

MindNode Pro 1.2 required a major code rewrite which might have introduced several new bugs. I tested this version very carefully and I’d like to ask you to send me any issues you encounter during your tests. I’m especially interested in feedback related to cross connections. Thank you for your help improving my application!

Fullscreen Mode
Focus is critical when brain storming and sometimes even the smallest things can break concentration. Via the main menu you can now enable a clean fullscreen mode.

[Update]
Known Issues:
I’m currently working on the next major release of MindNode Pro. Version 1.2 will bring one major new feature and several other additions to the application.
Cross Connections
Cross Connections allow the user to visualize a connection between any two nodes on the canvas. This is by far the most requested feature so far and I’m happy to finally bring this feature to my application.
Fullscreen Mode
Focus is critical when brain storming and sometimes even the smallest things can break concentration. MindNode Pro 1.2 will bring a fullscreen mode that will enable a clean and distraction free environment.
Context Menus
With version 1.2, MindNode Pro will allow the user to access important functionally directly via a context sensitive menu. This feature will also start to appear in the freeware version later this year.
To be announced
There is one additional feature I’m currently working on. I’m not sure if it will be ready in time so I don’t want to talk about it at the moment.
MindNode Pro 1.2 Sneak Peek Screencast
MindNode Pro will be a free upgrade for all MindNode Pro users. My current plan is to release version 1.2 sometime in April.
MindNode Pro 1.1.1 is a free update for all MindNode Pro users and brings minor bug fixes.
Improvements and Fixes:
Change Log
Major improvements to zooming
MindNode now supports zooming to any factor between 10% – 400%, allows zooming with multi-touch trackpads and mouse wheel ([CMD]+[Mouse Wheel up/down] and supports Fit Mind Map and Fit Selection. Furthermore the zoom factor button next to the horizontal scroll received a major facelift and now looks and behaves similarly to pop-up-buttons used in the iWork suite.
Multi-touch support
Additional to the two-finger scrolling, MindNode now supports pitch to zoom and three-finger-swipe to change the selection on all new multi-touch trackpads.

Filled Nodes
Nodes can be drawn filled and with a border. It’s also possible to change the background color of filled nodes.

Link Support
The support of links changed a lot in this release. Besides Hyperlinks and Filelinks, MindNode Pro now also supports mail links. The way how links are handled now reflects the way Apple handles them in iWork applications (a blue rectangle around a link indicates that the entire links is being edited, compared to only editing the current selection as before). Filelinks can now also link to folders.
Other Improvements and Fixes:
To help differenciate MindNode and MindNode Pro, MindNode will receive a new icon in the upcoming 1.3 release. My original plan was to enhance the icon for MindNode Pro, but doing so without cluttering the icon, turned out to be too difficult. So we ended up trying color variations to create a new look for the MindNode icon. I hope you like the new icon.

After long considerations I just made the switched to Kagi as my main payment provider. This will provide a much smoother checkout experience for my customers and will allow me to integrate a store into the application in the future. Buy at Kagi»
With this switch I also changed the base currency from Euro to US-Dollar. The new price of MindNode Pro is $14.95. With the current Euro-Dollar exchange rate this makes the application even more affordable. Please also note that this is still an introductory price. The final price for MindNode Pro 1.x will be $24.95 and will come into effect on March 1st, 2009.
An other change I made to my site is the new Software Licensing Policy. In my opinion it’s a very fair license and if you have any feedback on it, please let me know.
