MindNode Pro 1.3 and MindNode 1.3.1 released

April 27, 2009 at 3:42 pm

I released MindNode Pro 1.3 and MindNode 1.3.1 today.

MindNode Pro 1.3 is a major update and free for all existing MindNode Pro users. It adds the ability to visualize cross connections and to edit the mind map in a full featured fullscreen mode. To better communicate that MindNode and MindNode Pro are based on exactly the same codebase I skipped the 1.2 version number.

MindNode 1.3.1 is a minor release bringing smaller fixes and improvements. It also adds compatibility to the updated mindnode file format and allows to view cross connections that were created with MindNode Pro 1.3 and newer.

Cross Connections

Cross Connections allow the user to visualize a connection between any two nodes on the canvas. You can create a new connection by selecting two nodes and choosing create connection from the main menu or by shift-clicking on a node and dragging a line to a second node. MindNode Pro supports importing and exporting connections from FreeMind. All other export formats currently don’t support this new feature.

Fullscreen Mode

MindNode Pro now supports editing the mind map in a full screen mode. It can be enabled in the main menu.

Contextual Menus

Context menu allow to access to the most important functionally directly on the canvas.

Improvements and Fixes:

  • Fixes an issue related to displaying the wrong link type in the inspector.
  • Fixes a bug that caused “node wells” to stay visible although the mouse was nowhere near it.
  • Fixes a bug that caused nodes to stay in edit mode when quickly creating a new one.
  • New nodes are now created centered under the mouse cursor.
  • Fixes an issue related to incorrect selection of the inspector dash style menu.
  • Allow to detach nodes by pressing “d” during dragging.
  • Improvements to menu item validation.
  • Allow to reorder nodes when there is no active selection.
  • Fixes several bugs when importing FreeMind documents.
  • New acknowledgement menu.
  • Export as PNG now available in the export file dialog.
  • Copy MindMap As > PDF and Copy MindMap As > TIFF are replaced by Copy MindMap As Image. This menu item will place a PDF and TIFF representation onto the pasteboard. This also resolves an issue with certain applications (e.g. Mail.app) not accepting MindNodes PDFs via copy and paste.
  • When reconnecting a filled node (this includes main nodes), the node will retain its filled state.
  • Fixes an issue with nodes ignoring the “Decreasing Branch Thickness” setting when being detached.
  • Pasting or reconnecting to a node with folded subnodes will unfold the subnodes.
  • Solves an issue with “ghost” subnodes when deleting a node with folded subnodes.
  • Fixes an issue that caused to show the folding well icon instead of the node well.
  • Resolves an issue that prevented users leaving the “canvas dragging” mode.
  • Changed the line ending style of branches. It’s now nicely rounded. This also improves the visual style when a branch reduces it’s line width.
  • The line dash style is now affected by the line width.
  • Resolves an issue related to setting an incorrect font when deleting the entire content of a node.
