Hitting enter for edit mode is closer to the Mac Finder, but what is more important when brainstorming- creating new nodes or renaming old ones? I think in general brainstorming and creativity is focused on creating rather than editing ideas. But there's really no right or wrong way here, so it's difficult to make a choice...
